Around the world in 80 Days

Went for the movie with Calvin, Lina and Jon the wednesday nite as we were bored. Let me tell you abit of the movie.

Around the world in 80 Days is a story by Jules Vernes about an inventor, Phileas Fogg who makes a bet of 4000 pounds with the Andrew Stuart that he can circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. With his trusty sidekick Passepartout, they face loads of obstacles in their journey.

That was the classic version, here the Jackie Chan version. Phileas Fogg is an eccentric inventor(he invents stuff such as his own version of a rollerblade) who makes a bet with the evil Minister of Science (MoS), Lord Kelvin that he can go around the world in 80 days. If he wins the bet he would be the new MoS but if he loses he would never invent again. In this show Jackie Chan play Passepartout, a martial arts expert who had just stolen a Jade Buddha from the Bank Of England which was taken from his village and joins with Fogg so that he can go back to his village and return the Buddha to it rightful place.

This version of the classic was interesting as during the travel there was a lot of obstacles ie transportation and also Lord Kelvin's henchman Inspector Fix who was sent to follow Fogg to try and prevent Fogg from winning the bet. There were a lot of cameos in the show. There was Karen Mok as the evil General Fang, who stole the Jade Buddha in the first place, Arnold Swazernagger as some king in India, Maggie Q (beautiful) as an assasin, John Cleese as a police chief, Katie Bates as the Queen of England, Sammo Hung as Wong Fei Hung, Daniel Wu as a leader of the Evil Scorpians and so on. There was also an scene from Jackie's movie the Drunken Master in the show which I thought was funny as hell.

All in all, this was an entertaining movie to watch if you are bored, with some funny outtakes. I give this show a 4 out of 5.
