Mel's back from UK. Met her on thursday nite (I know I'm 4 days late). Had some drinks with her, Jon, Steph, Warren and Yuen Kuan at Spicy Sri Hartamas. Laughed our brains off bullshitting about the past, the present and the future while at the same time watching Lord Of the Rings being showed on big screen. Had a damn good time. Later just before we left, Mariam (Beautiful!!!), Black and Navin came over. Sat a while more then left cause have to work. *sniff*

Anyway woke up to watch 2nd half of the footie match between England and Portugal. England were leading 1-0 with Owen scoring in the 3rd minute. Was starting to fall asleep when things got really exciting and I actually was fully awake. Next thing you know Portugal equalised and into extra time it went. Portugal then scored just at the end of extra time and can you believe it, England scored. I was jumping for joy running around the house. Luckily I managed to stop myself from shouting toooo loud. Unfortunately as I had guessed they lost on penalties. *shucks*

Friday was a day of procrastination. Where to go? What to do? Who to look for? Ended up going to Kafe 7 in Subang Square. Its a pool and foosball place. There were a lot of ppl and a lot of girls... I'm so sad man. All I can do is look and nothin else. Shucks. Anyway was there till about 3 and after that started feelin like shit cause the place was smokie. Had such a bad sore throat after coming out.

Sat woke up at 1130 cause suppose to go for the Travel Fair. Wanted to miss it cause of my freakin throat but then decided that I wanna buy some tickets for my parents.(unfortunately the prices were too high) Ended up only going at 3 cause Jon the smart ass decided not to wake up for his meeting and slept. If Cal didn't wake him up we would have waited the whole day. Was walkin around the place checkin out the prices when an angel appeared before my eyes. At one of the booths, there was a beautiful and eye catching saleperson. Couldn't believe my eyes. Neither could Jon but unfortunately the both of us did not have the guts to approach her so all I could do was admire her from afar. I think we were quite obvious and she noticed. We were like vultures seekin out our meal. Anyway that all we could do so we just continued walking and still ended up walkin back to the booth to take a last look of my angel. *sigh* I need to do something about it or else I would be an old and lonely man.

At nite went to Rush, the old Viva which has a new management. Deco nice. Very retro. 60's feel. Unfortunately that place sux. Layout was so bad that the didn't even have a decent dance floor so we left quite early. Ended up at playing Xbox at cal's place till 5am and then back home.

Yesterday was bad. Woke up at 330pm with my whole body aching and head throbbing. No idea why but I think it is due to me sore throat. Although it was better I still felt like shit. Watch some tellie and then at 530 cal called to go for lunch/dinner. Ended up at Nasi Kandar(hey was told curry helps ok) and then to play starcraft. After that off to cal's for fifa2004 rematch. The day ended at 1230 and with me still feelin like shit. Even now as I am writing this, I am not that well. A bit feverish, lightness in my head like floating. Might go see doc later. See how lah...

Around the world in 80 Days

Went for the movie with Calvin, Lina and Jon the wednesday nite as we were bored. Let me tell you abit of the movie.

Around the world in 80 Days is a story by Jules Vernes about an inventor, Phileas Fogg who makes a bet of 4000 pounds with the Andrew Stuart that he can circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. With his trusty sidekick Passepartout, they face loads of obstacles in their journey.

That was the classic version, here the Jackie Chan version. Phileas Fogg is an eccentric inventor(he invents stuff such as his own version of a rollerblade) who makes a bet with the evil Minister of Science (MoS), Lord Kelvin that he can go around the world in 80 days. If he wins the bet he would be the new MoS but if he loses he would never invent again. In this show Jackie Chan play Passepartout, a martial arts expert who had just stolen a Jade Buddha from the Bank Of England which was taken from his village and joins with Fogg so that he can go back to his village and return the Buddha to it rightful place.

This version of the classic was interesting as during the travel there was a lot of obstacles ie transportation and also Lord Kelvin's henchman Inspector Fix who was sent to follow Fogg to try and prevent Fogg from winning the bet. There were a lot of cameos in the show. There was Karen Mok as the evil General Fang, who stole the Jade Buddha in the first place, Arnold Swazernagger as some king in India, Maggie Q (beautiful) as an assasin, John Cleese as a police chief, Katie Bates as the Queen of England, Sammo Hung as Wong Fei Hung, Daniel Wu as a leader of the Evil Scorpians and so on. There was also an scene from Jackie's movie the Drunken Master in the show which I thought was funny as hell.

All in all, this was an entertaining movie to watch if you are bored, with some funny outtakes. I give this show a 4 out of 5.

OK its been a few days since I last came in here, not much has been happening.

Friday
Friday nite was fun. Went out with my colleagues for a drink. It was suppose to be a farewell thing for 2 of my colleagues who would be leaving at the end of the month. Went to the ever so romantic MCd's for dinner in pyramid. Broke wor everyone... Anyway proceeded to Cafe Flam for a drink but unfortunately it was still early so they were still in cafe mode and it was fully reserved. Well went over to QBar but it was empty so we managed to get a a corner area all for ourselves. Ordered our 2 bottles which we were told comes with 12 mixers. Was so happy but alas our happiness disappeared when the drinks came. Basket when they meant 12 mixers they meant 12 cans. Where got enough? Ended up going to 7-11 and sneaking in an extra 4 cans of pepsi. Pepsi lemon to be exact. Partied till we ran out of drinks and the table next to us started passing us theirs so we partied with them.

There was this one girl, Kelly that came up to me and gave me a drink. I thought...hmmm got chance to know someone tonight. I was over the moon but at the end of the day when I asked her for her phone number... no can do, she asked for mine and said she would msg me but till now no news. How sad!! But live goes on. Got home by 430am and after shower fell onto the bed and right to sleep

Saturday
I think I only slept like 5 hour or so cause I was tossing and turning and my stomach was hurting due to maybe the maggi goreng we had after Qbar. Anyway had to wake up by 1130 cause Jon was suppose to fetch me back to Ipoh around 1230. Fathers day mah of course must go back..missed the sepang rave for it. See I'm a filial son ok and I love me parents. Anyway Jon only came over to get me at 1 and we proceded to fetch calvin who told us that we need to go see Oswin who was leaving to aussie for a few days for work. Oh he is such a jet setter. Twat! Dun get me wrong he is a nice guy but still a Twat.

Anyway looked for him then went for lunch. Had indian and only left for Ipoh at 4. Reach around 6 and just hung out at home the rest of nite catching up with parents and football.

Sunday
Went for lunch with parents to Koh Samui, a thai restaurant. Dad was so looking forward to it cause we have not been there a long time probably for a year. Use to eat there a lot but then for some weird reason we stopped. Well with all the anticipation we entered the restaurant and waited patiently with a growling stomach to be disappointed with food so sweet one can get diabetes. Ok i'm exagerating a bit but it was sweet. Never expected dry curry beef to be so sweet and the meat so dark and tough. Dad was so disappointed. Will make it up to him when I can.

Bad news arrived after lunch. Jon's car is in the workshop and we can't go back unless we wait for sonnie to come back from kl so I was given the task to help find alternatives instead. Didn't manage to so had to wait and wait and wait. Finally at 8 sonnie was back and we left Ipoh at 11. Arrived in KL at 1am. First time I've ever reach KL so late.

Anyway thats all that happen the past weekend. Nothin much interesting happened yesterday. Oh I lead such a boring life.

Friday, June 18, 2004

I met the most interesting person not too long ago. I met a CEO of multiple companies. I was invited to meet him for an informal interview for a sales and marketing position although I do not have a hint of experience in this field.

Anyway first impression of him was good, well dressed, well groomed and YOUNG!! Come on he is on in his early 30's and has like 10 companies under his belt doing R&D on various market sector. He also has an animation company that does work with Disney and Pixar. He even has offices in UK, Thailand and soon to be China. And did I mention he is young. Oh and also he is a VC. How can someone be a VC at such a young age. He mentioned that he started his first company when he was 23 with 2 degrees without help from his parents. How can I not respect someone like this?

Well the so called interview went well, chatted with him for around 2 and half hours. Just talked about his product, his vision and his business philosophy. I don't think I'm allowed to reveal fully regarding his software product but it has something to do with the printing industry and I have not heard of such a product in the world right now. So I'm seriously interested in joining the company. He was sincere about what he was looking for and told me that his office environment is very care free. He says as long as the work you were ask to do is done to the best and on schedule ie 8 hours project done in 2 hours, he doesn't mind you taking the 6 hours to do your own stuff . Not like my company where every single minute is money money money. He feels that his staff are an asset and a part of his family. That is something respectable about a CEO. He not like companies who treat their staff as machines and squeeze every single thing out of them.

At the end of the day he mentioned that he would wanna see me again after discussing with his partner. Hopefully he does and if things work out I would be out of the programming life and into the challenging world of S&M (For those sad ppl out there S&M I mean is not referring to Sadoism & Machoism ok). And even if this doesn't work out, at least a have a someone I can add into my network of friends. Do pray for me regarding this ok.

Recently I made a discovery. I'm not only allergic to Paracetamol aka Panadol but now I'm allergic to bufren and if I'm not wrong, to ponstan. Sheesh now I don't have any off the counter medicine that I can take if I'm having a fever or headache. I discovered this because the last time I took a bufren when I had headache, my eyes transformed into gold fish eyes, the area around my eyeballs were swollen to a size as big as a pingpong ball. I look so bad that I was forced by my office to take a MC. It was so hilarious cause my female colleagues wouldn't even look at me straight to the face cause I look so in their own words 'EEEEEE'.

And now due to this, I don't know what I can take when I fall ill. Was told that there are some available by God knows what name but would have to get a prescription to buy it from hospitals and would cost a bomb. If anyone out there has a similar problem, please advice. The next thing I need to do is contact medic alert and get a new wrist chain with all my latest allergies. Ish..more money down the drain. Anyone need a part time worker.

Was having a talk with my colleague Stephanie regarding how guys treat girls earlier on. She was complaining about us male species and asking why guys act so 'dai fong' or generous(for those who do not understand cantonese). She was saying that her guy friends always insist on paying for stuff/dinner eventhough they are broke. They act ever so generous and although the other party won't mind paying

That got me thinking. Let me talk about the male species first. I know guys who are like the type Stephanie's refering to and guys who are totally opposite and who won't pay shit. I do agree that there are guys even myself, want to stick to the older customs where guys pay for dinner, open doors, carry bags etc etc. I think this was refered to as being a gentleman. And then I know guys who won't even be bothered a single bit allowing a girl to pay the full amount. Worse still would be when they'll just sit there and not even offer to pay. This kind of guys, I have no respect for. Even if they don't want to pay at least act a bit.

But in this day of age, women want to have more equal opportunities. The want to hold same position, same pay, same rights as guys which I do not have a complain about that cause I think fairs fair. They also want to pay for their own meal, carry their own bags. Well I don't see any problems with that too but what I don't like is when some girls contradict themselves. For example, when a guy treats dinner, they will go "why pan tai fong" ( but when a guy doesn't want to treat they go "why so kou hon" (stingy) and start telling her gf's that the guy is useless. Another example is when opening door for girl, they'll go "wahh so getleman but not as if i cannot open myself" but when don't open, then a guy is un-gentleman.

Its so hard to please everyone. Sometimes I don't know what a girl expects from a guy. Can someone tell me....

What a nite I had yesterday. After such a long day of work, went to my aunts place with my parents for dinner. Simple home cook meal which is the best. After that parents decided they wanted to go to the new Giant Hypermarket in Puchong. So off we went with my aunty, cousin and lil nephew,Ryan tagging along at around 8.

Everytime I go to a hypermarket, I wonder how some ppl can leave with a full trolley. Now I know cause by the time we left at about 10, our trolley was full of stuff. From 99 sen slippers to RM17 hair clippers, the trolley was full to the brim. One thing for sure is that place has some of the cheapest stuff. I bought a black t-shirt for RM3 and plan to wear it out clubbing. If it starts discoloring, will resort to wearing it to bed.

After packing up the stuff I thought it was off home but no they wanted supper. I was like thinking, NO! no supper for me. Need to lose weight. Gettin heavy. Waistline gettin larger but since my dad is the one who wanted to it, we went to the big chinese food court. The only thing I had was 'Hark Lor Mai' or Black Glutinous Rice Sweet Porridge. All water yet filling. Oh full of sugar as well.

Finally after that was back home. Oh my home sweet home. Thought of watching 'Fastlane' but NO, they had to show repeat of the footie match the nite before. Come on lah. Dun cancel good shows for repeats of depressing games. England loss!! Ended up watching Fear Factor - Couples Edition. Damn good. great prices from free $25K limit credit card to 2 Jeep Wranglers. How come Malaysia does not give such good prices? Even Hong Kong game shows give damn good prices from HK1 mil apartments. Actually to think about it I think Malaysia game show getting better for example TV3's explorerace - RM150k. Well compared
to the Amazing Race, where you travel around the world and win $1 mil, Malaysia version of the game is nothin but to shout about. Well slowly but surely things would change I guess.

Things to do today:-
Nothin cause it is now evening and all I want to do is go home and rest. Watch TV and dream of having a someone to share all this with. Back to me lonely home cause parents back in Ipoh and Nicholas my housemate is never home early. Hmmm , *Should I move back there*

The Korean supplement drink thingy dun work to well. Was hungry by lunch time. Its suppose help me lose weight. Its suppose to supress my desire to eat eat eat but it aint workin. What is this? Haiiiii.....

Wow what a weekend? Tired tired tired.

Friday nite

Took a trip down to KLIA with Calvin to surprise Elish who's back from aussie for her winter vacation. It was good seeing her. Not much different. Still the same old Elish just more matured. Suppose to meet up with her for a drink in Sunway but had a headache so didn't go. Felt bad but my head was pounding. Just like pounding sambal belacan with the pestel and mortar. Haha

Bumped into eliza who was back from Shanghai at the airport so we decided to give her a lift back. She was not feeling well... poor thing. Anyway at least she didn't have to go back on the van which i should think would be quite uncomfortable.

Saturday 12th

was all about rest. Woke up at 12. Watch a cookery show by Nigella Dawson, a chef from UK. I think she is a cool chef. No frill nothin. Ready to get her hands dirty. The food she cooked made me ever so hungry. Ate leftovers. Thats the life of single people. Although I love cooking (use to cook and bake all the time in UK), I do find that with the convinience of all the mamak's, fast food, 'tai chau', I just am too lazy to start cooking although I still do it at times. Mostly midnite. Had a great steak sandwich the nite b4 which I cooked at 2am (even with a headache I slept at 3am) No wonder I dun seem to be losing as much weight as I would like to be losing. Oh well

Nite time was great fun. First went over to concorde to help Oswin surprise his other half with a cake and pressie. So sweet. *blek* Then after waiting till 12 for the couple to come down after the surprise, off we went to atmosphere. Great music, great crowd but most inportantly great friends. Drank flaming and opened a bottle of BL. Met up with Ee Ling, that girl ah, damn party girl. Friday there, Saturday also there. Saw Sue Ann and Natalie as well. How much they have grown up? Oh saw 'piu mui' Macy. She looked good and happy. Introduced me to his current beau. Jon..or was it chris. Haha I'm so bad with names. Anyway partied till 4am and went to bed at 5am.

Sunday 13th
Woke up at 10 cause parents are arriving from Ipoh. Wow damn tired. After a nite of dancing and drinking, 5h sleep is in no way sufficient but what to do. Went over to Tesco to meet my dad's best fren who came up to kl from Malacca to send his daughter who happens to be my parents goddaughter to Uni (damn smart girl, full A's for STPM. Now doing Law in UM) . Funny thing is, the rest of the kids call my parents 'kai yeh' and 'kai ma' also. This is a case where you 'Kai' one get 2 free. HAHA.

Spend the next few hours with them at Tesco. Spent RM50 to purchase some korean health drink which they say would help me lose weight or a better word supress my urge to eat. Anyway bought 2 cans cause if it helps it helps. If not then just take it as breakfast lor.

Evening went over to balakong with my relatives. Had yong tau foo. Lip smacking good but for some reason although I was not pissed drunk the nite before, I felt a tingle in my tummy, the affect of drinking too much. Felt as if I was having a gastric... ouch. Painful but I still ate.

Watched football. Match not to be missed. England vs France.. GO ENGLAND!!! I predicted that England will win and nearly put in a bet (I know it is illegal but who cares) but luckily I didn't cause although England were leading till the 90th minute, during extra time Zidane scored twice. Can you believe it, so close yet so far. A lot of ppl who put a bet in must have gone crazy thinking they have made money but ending up losing. Just like the Portugal match against Greece which they were predicted to win but eventually lost 2-1. Well I do think that it is a sign telling me not to put in any bet. HAHA match ended at 4.30am.

Friday, June 11, 2004

I lead such a dull and uninteresting life. My daily routine is wake up, go to work and try to force myself to work, go home, watch tv, sleep. Every single day for 5 days. I use to look forward to weekends cause it is party period but it seems nowadays my weekends are like this. Wake up late, watch tv, eat, take a nap, watch more tv, eat, take a nap, watch tv, go to sleep late at nite. Oh I need to spice up my life.

Maybe finding a companion might help me out. But I'm just to lazy to go through the process of courting. Anyone can teach me an easier way to do so. I've been advised to actually go out and start dating but how do one start doing so especially for a guy with my oh so normal looks not to mention being a tad on the short side. I'm so bad with handling girls one on one. I end up not having say anything. Topics. Thats the thing I seem to not able to find when out with a female friend. There's so much that one can talk about and bullshit.

As I was dreading my drive to work, there was this radio game show with which couples must try to find out whether or not they really know each other. One would be ask 3 questions first then the other half would try to give a similar answer. Todays couple were a married couple of 23 and 24. 23 and 24. Can you believe that. Maybe you can but I can't. How? Why do people get married so young? I can't even find an other half and there are people getting married so young. I can't even manage to sustain my life every month with my pay. How can one manage to afford to take care of a family especially if that person has just ventured into the working world? Maybe the are from a rich family but not all young married couples are from rich families. *ponders*

Hmmm when would I actually find someone to start a family with. Question of the century!

Thursday, June 10, 2004

Alrite. Finally got the email. Sad to say I didn't get it. Well I'm sad that I didn't get it but there is always next year and at least I dun have to go crazy wondering whether or not i got in. Well life goes on.

While sitting in the car on the way to work today, I was lookin at the blue morning sky with sun rays bursting out of them and just thought how glorious God is, how he has created a wonder and how fortunate I am to know him and be a part of his family. I realise that I have been slipping away from getting to know him once I started my working life. I've always known work is not a good reason to backslide but I have used it as a reasoning for the last few years. Time to change my ways.

Still no news from SIA. DEPRESSION has gone away, currently going into a state of CRAZINESS. ARGH!!!! When will the results be out. At least email me if I didn't get in.
This is something I hate about the working world, why dun they have the courtesy to email you back to say that you have not gotten the job instead of letting us wait until ARMAGEDON.

Work Work Work... Boring!!

Good News and Bad News

Good News, heard from teckjoe that he got called up for his 2nd SIA interview yesterday. Happy to hear that he going thru the next round

Bad News, I have yet to hear from them regarding my interview. Will I go through like him or will I be a reject. I really really pray that I would be called up for it. I was at a state of depression yesterday when I realised I have yet to hear from them. Everyone has been advising me not to worry so much cause as long as I have yet to hear from them I still have a chance of being selected. For those who might be thinking to themselves, "WHAT ALVIN WANNA BE A STEWARD?? Is he nut!! Isn't he a bit short". Let me assure you it is not for a steward position although I'm actually considering it now and no I am not to short.

Been checking my email every hour since the day started but have yet to receive anything although I was informed that all results are going to be out today. I'm still praying hard and cause of this I have done nothin concerning work. I know I know, very unprofessional of me but my mind is seriously jumbled up.
